Sam Smith and Cyndi Lauper performed at the White House to mark the signing of the Respect for Marriage Act into law by President Joe Biden on Tuesday.
Since December 13, when President Joe Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act, all 50 states have given same-sex and mixed-race couples the same legal protections as married couples.

Smith and Lauper had a good attitude and a sense of humor when they sang happy songs.
“For once, our families…. mine and a lot of my friends and people you know, sometimes your neighbors…. we can rest easy tonight” Lauper added. The senator praised the legislative team, including Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Kamala Harris.

Before performing “True Colors,” American singer-songwriter Cyndi Lauper told the audience, “This time, love prevails.”
The next day, Hillary assured reporters in the White House briefing room that she would be able to “rest easy tonight.”

However, Sam did tweet a selfie of themselves with Kim Petras with the caption, “Philadelphia last night was just amazing, It was unbelievable that such a kind, welcoming, and boisterous crowd would show up on a Monday night. I miss you and have been thinking about you recently, particularly Kim. @kimpetras, Kim, Kim, Kim! I’ve enjoyed working with you on this series of concerts. I believe in your skills and can’t wait to share the spotlight with you. You have been such a tremendous help to me during all that has happened.”
President Joe Biden also attended and offered his thoughts. He said: “The United States of America has always tried to make democracy and the rule of law available to everyone, but today marks a watershed moment in that effort. Making a country where people support and care for each other and where love and compassion are valued is a top priority.”
