The news that Brittney Griner, the centre for the Phoenix Mercury, would return to be with her family on Thursday morning has brought much relief to many people, and many are grateful for this news.
During a news conference on Thursday, President Biden revealed that he had a conversation with Griner and stated that she is “in good spirits.” It was something that, according to him, Griner had also done.

Griner was questioned at a Moscow airport at the start of February on suspicion that he was carrying prohibited substances. This took place not even a week before Russia invaded Ukraine. While going through her luggage, the police found several empty vape cartridges that contained cannabidiol (CBD) oil. She admitted that she had done something wrong but tried to make excuses for it by saying it resulted from an honest mistake.

After complimenting the government workers who laboured to repatriate Griner, Vice President Biden said that the process was “painstaking and hard discussions.” Griner returned to his home nation thanks to the efforts of government officials who made the trip feasible.
A brief conversation occurred between Biden and Griner in the Oval Office before the announcement of their meeting to the press. He observed that she seemed in good spirits even though he knew she was going through “trauma” and would need some time to recover.

“This was the best news to wake up to today, I can’t stop crying, It has been a difficult process for BG, but I am grateful to President Biden and Vice President, as well as to everyone else who has assisted in getting her back home.” Sandy Brondello is now a star for the New York Liberty but used to play forward for the Phoenix Mercury.
Griner was a shining light for the Lady Bears basketball team at Baylor University from 2009 to 2013, the years in which she played for the squad. Since 2013, she has been a part of the Phoenix Mercury, and she has continued to play with the team during the whole drought. During her off-seasons, she has participated in basketball competitions in China and Russia.
Griner’s false conviction on drug charges sparked unprecedented public interest in the issue of unfair imprisonment. When Griner was behind bars, a good number of months, if not years, passed.
After the prisoner swap with Russia, the press asked White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about Whelan’s long sentence. In response to this, she said that the Russians “were not willing to deal in good faith” on the release of Whelan.
In a spectacular high-level prisoner swap on Thursday, Russia liberated WNBA star, Brittney Griner. In return, the United States released renowned Russian weapons dealer Viktor Bout, according to authorities from the United States.
